Kate Winslet New Face of St.John Knitwear line


We get why US designer knitwear brand St. John has chosen multi award winner Kate Winslet as their latest brand ambassador.

When Kate Winslet’s not busy playing the heroine on screen as leading lady in the highest grossing movie remake in history, The Titanic, she’s also heroine off screen rescuing Richard Branson’s 90 year old mother from her burning home last year.

The famous actress was shot by famed photographer Craig McDean in St. John’s new season ad campaign. McDean’s other clients including Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Emporio Armani, Oscar de la Renta, Yves Saint Laurent, Calvin Klein, and Estée Lauder.

Previous celebrity ambassadors for the St. John Knitwear brand include Angelina Jolie and Gisele Bündchen.

H&M’s The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Collection


“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” costume designer Trish Summerville has designed a collection for H&M which includes pieces inspired by the film’s anti-heroine Lisbeth Salander, played in David Fincher’s forthcoming film by Rooney Mara.

“Salander’s look is very real and very lived in, with pieces that her character has worn for a long time, like her jackets that act as her armour to shield her from the world,” Salander explained. “I wanted the collection to have the essence and strength of Salander, with a fashion edge, and I’m pleased with the result!”

“I love this collection and what we’ve achieved with Trish,” Anna Norling, designer for H&M added. “She has such an amazing eye, is so specific and has such a strong vision. The clothes are all about the attitude – they have a toughness to them but they are also really flattering. The collection is more than costume – it’s a fashion statement, it’s modern, and it’s right for now.”

The 30-piece collection comprises of leather jackets and trousers; torn jeans; and slouchy hoodies in industrial shades of black, grey, worn white or dark red.

The clothes go on sale Dec. 14, 2011 and the movie will hit theaters Dec. 21.

Versace for H&M Mania has started!

“Versace for H&M fans queue for hours for launch of new collection” “Versace for H&M starts Fights in China”.  “Versace for H&M Crashes Retailer’s E-commerce Site in the UK”.

The headlines have started and Versace mania has begun!

Versace for H&M hit stores today in London, Paris, Milan and Shanghai with shoppers coming from near and far to get their hands on the collection. In Shanghai a fight even broke out when some of the professionals queuers (yes, this is apparently a real thing) didn’t want to wait in line and H&M’s e-commerce site crashed only moments after the collaboration went up for sale.

This would have to be one of the best fashion collaborations ever! Check it out…

Steven Tyler Inspires Rock‘n’Roll Clothing Line

Aerosmith’s lead singer is the inspiration behind a new rock‘n’roll fashion collection for men and women.

Steven Tyler has teamed up with Creative Director Andy Hilfiger, Tommy Hilfiger’s brother, to create Andrew Charles, a rock bohemian inspired fashion collection.

Tyler, known for his flashy and at times very feminine fashion choices, will serve as the face of the new Andrew Charles men’s wear line alongside his 22 year old daughter Chelsea Tyler who will be modelling the women’s wear line influenced by the wardrobe of singer Stevie Nick.

Demi Moore for Ann Taylor Holiday Ad Campaign

Ann Taylor once again is proud to announce that Demi Moore will return as the face of their Holiday 2011 campaign.

Shot by famed fashion photographer Norman Jean Roy in Los Angeles, the campaign is inspired by a Nordic winter wonderland and captures the famed actress in the middle of a magical snow-filled scene.

 One of the most prominent campaign images features a shot of Moore in an intricately beaded shell worn with a luxe faux chinchilla stole, a statement chandelier necklace, and tweed pants, capturing old Hollywood glamour through a modern lens.

“It has been a true pleasure to continue my collaboration with Ann Taylor,” said Moore. “The energy and enthusiasm behind the evolution of this iconic brand is remarkable, and being a part of that has been a wonderful creative experience.

 

Debuting in December magazines, the ads feature Moore wearing some of her favorite looks from the Holiday collection.

The Kardashian Kollection Bags have arrived at Hannahs Shoe Store!

The Kardashian Kollection ranges of handbags have found their way into our very own Hannahs shoe stores.

I’m sure you were as excited as I was to hear a bit of celebrity fashion had managed to make its way over to our shores so I decided to take a wee trip down to Hannahs Sylvia Park and check them out.

After inspecting most of the bags on offer in store, I must say I was quite impressed! All the bags are made out of manmade (PU) materials with a mix of hardware- chains, zips and clasps.  No leather here however after touching some of them you would think they were made of a soft leather. The pop of coral colour was refreshing as well as the type of bags on offer from versatile totes to evening purses.

The styles are fantastic and I noticed their full range can be viewed on Hannahs.co.nz. The stores seem to only have selected styles/colours.

My favourites are the ‘Tots’ Red Bag as a great everday fashion bag.  Also I love the texture/pattern.   And the ‘Bale’ purse for evening.  It’s very Missoni and again I love the straw like texture and the shape is cute!

Michelle Williams as Marilyn Monroe

Michelle Williams is the latest actress to play the iconic screen goddess Marilyn Monroe. The 30 year old posed for Annie Leibovitz in stunning photos for the October issue of Vogue.

The Oscar-nominee went to great lengths to transform into the curvy Monroe, including working with a choreographer to capture Monroe’s walk to gaining weight- which didn’t work out so great. “Unfortunately, it went right to my face,” Williams tells Vogue. “So at some point it became a question of do I want my face to look like Marilyn Monroe’s or my hips?”

I feel like something has changed for me…Maybe it has something to do with turning 30. I don’t feel as shy or nervous or self-conscious. I have more confidence that I can handle what life brings me…It’s like I’ve found my voice.”

Part of that has to do, she admits, with moving past the shocking 2008 death of Heath Ledger, her ex and father to her daughter Matilda, 5. “Three years ago, it felt like we didn’t have anything, and now my life, our life—has kind of repaired itself.”

Ledger’s death has “changed how I see the world and how I interact on a daily basis. It’s changed the parent I am. It’s changed the friend I am. It’s changed the kind of work that I really want to do. It’s become the lens through which I see life–that it’s all impermanent.”

Kate Winslet is Elizabeth Taylor?

Kate Winslet pays homage to screen icon Elizabeth Taylor in a stunning new pictorial for V Magazine.

The 35-year-old  Academy Award winning actress emulated Taylor by wearing an array of jewels and head scarfs that were the late great Cleopatra stars favourite accessories.

She also talked candidly to the magazine about the actress who inspired her.

‘There was a real fearlessness in her… which in Hollywood perhaps didn’t feel quite as prevalent,’ Kate said of the star, who passed away in March at the age of 79.

‘Now actors and actresses can bend the rules a lot. Back then, there didn’t seem to be a rule book, and there was some expectation in terms of how glamourous a woman should look. There is sort of a coolness and aloofness to the way she would look in posed photographs.’
